The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced on Wednesday PM that Sanjay Malhotra will serve as the central bank's 26th governor for the next three years.
The RBI announced on X (previously Twitter) that "Shri Sanjay Malhotra takes charge as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for the next 3 years w.e.f December 11, 2024."
Who is Sanjay Malhotra?
Malhotra, an IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, takes over the RBI at a difficult juncture, with growth and inflation balance "unsettled," according to his predecessor, Shaktikanta Das. Malhotra has over 34 years of experience in the Indian bureaucracy.
